Troubleshooting

Clips aren't appearing on my iPhone

Make sure you're signed into the same iCloud account on both devices. Go to Settings > Apple Account > iCloud and confirm that Keptic is enabled for iCloud sync.

Keptic isn't capturing clipboard changes on Mac

Check that Keptic is running. Look for its icon in the menu bar. Open Keptic Settings and make sure clipboard monitoring isn't paused. If clips are still missing, try quitting and reopening the app.

The global hotkey (Cmd+Shift+V) isn't working

Another app may be using the same shortcut. Open Keptic Settings > General and look for "Global shortcut" to set a different key combination.

AI categorization isn't working

AI features require Apple Silicon running macOS 26 or iOS 26. The on-device model may need a moment to initialize after a fresh install or OS update. When AI is unavailable, Keptic falls back to pattern-matching heuristics automatically.

I can't see sensitive clips

Sensitive items are hidden by default. Double-click the clip and authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode to view it.

Sync shows an error

Common fixes: sign into iCloud, free up iCloud storage, check your internet connection, or wait if Apple's servers are temporarily down.

Keptic disappeared from my menu bar

If you have many menu bar icons, macOS may hide Keptic behind the notch or system icons. Try holding Cmd and dragging menu bar icons to rearrange. You can also quit and reopen Keptic, or enable Launch at Login in Settings to ensure it's always running.

My clips show as [Empty] or [Sensitive Content]

[Sensitive Content] means the clip contains detected credentials and is encrypted. Double-click the clip and authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode to view it. [Empty] means the clip had only whitespace. Keptic now trims whitespace automatically, but older clips may still show this.

The keyboard extension isn't showing my clips

Make sure you've added the Keptic keyboard in Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards on your iPhone. The extension syncs your 50 most recent clips. If clips aren't appearing, open the main Keptic app once to trigger a sync.

How do I exclude apps from clipboard monitoring?

On Mac, open Keptic Settings > Privacy and look for "Ignored Apps." Tap the + button to add any running app to the ignore list. Clips copied from ignored apps won't be saved.

Keptic is using too much storage

Go to Settings and reduce your history limit or set a retention period to auto-delete older clips. You can also empty the Trash to permanently remove deleted clips. Image clips tend to use the most space.

Subscription & Purchases

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Open Keptic Settings > Subscription. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple Account that made the purchase.

How do I cancel my subscription?

On iPhone: Settings > Apple Account > Subscriptions. On Mac: App Store > Account > Subscriptions.

What's included in the free trial?

Full access for 7 days: unlimited clips, AI categorization, iCloud sync, and all Pro features. After the trial, subscribe to Pro to keep saving and syncing.

Will I lose my clips if I cancel?

No. Your existing clips are never deleted when you cancel. You'll keep read-only access to your full history. New clipboard changes just won't be saved until you resubscribe.

General

Does Keptic work on iPad?

Yes. On iPad, Keptic provides a dedicated split-view layout with a sidebar for Clips, Pinned, Trash, Collections, and Settings, optimized for the larger screen.

Can I export my clipboard history?

On Mac, right-click any clip to see context-specific export options: save as a text file, open links in your browser, add to Reading List, or save code snippets. You can also use the Share button. On iPhone, go to Settings > Backup & Restore to export your text history as JSON or CSV. Note: image clips are not included in exports.

Where are my logs?

Open Settings > Diagnostics to view, export, or clear logs.

Privacy
